Two vintage movies filmed by Ruth Wharram in the early days of Wharram Catamaran designs. In 1968, James Wharram, UK pioneer of off-shore catamaran sailing and already on the way to becoming a well known catamaran designer, gathered round him a group of young enthusiasts to build a 51’ ocean-going catamaran on an open pier in Deganwy, North Wales. Tehini was one of the largest catamarans of her...

Anuta is a tiny Polynesian Island at the eastern end of the Solomon Islands. It is just 1 mile long and 65m high, with a population of around 300. There are 70 canoes on the island, which have a history going back at least 2-300 years, probably much longer. They are a unique V shaped hull design. Several of the canoes are very old, the oldest is estimated to have been built in the 1820s and is ...

Thanks for sharing the building process! I really would love to build one of these but at ~20,000$ Canadian for the kit I don't think I could "float" that. I might be interested in buying the designs and then trying to build it myself in a lower cost way though! I really love the philosophy and think the size is perfect, and really like that it gives a bit more interior space than the Tiki 21. I have grown up sailboat racing but I think my future is more focused on just ENJOYING my time and not being forced to go to certain places. Freedom ya know! I know a lot of very talented folks who would be willing to help out on the build too, and I am no DIY slouch myself, but I live in an apartment so build space is something of a challenge. Something I really like about these boats is that they are modular, but I wish I could figure out a way to get even more modular than these. I also think there's probably a variation that could be done on the Tiki 21 design that might allow more livable space when needed too but I have to think on it! Either way! Thanks for sharing these! It really does make boat building seem a lot more approachable.

No wrong. We Tongans and Sāmoans are from the Kingdom of Tonga and Sāmoa. We Polynesians are not of your kind. The white man colonised indoctrinated ideology is rubbish. We Tongans especially were Seafaring Warriors 1500 years ago Tu'i Tonga Empire ie. Giants. Our bone structure are bigger, wider, heavier and more dense than you Asian, Filipinos. Your kind have lighter boned structure smaller in stature and where is the correlation? Doesn't make sense. Search Tu'i Tonga Tu'itatui king warrior of Tonga and the Trilithon Ha'amonga and 40 metres down from there you will see his Giant Coral Backrest and you will get a gauge on how massive this Human was and how massive the Tongans were back then and today like the Sāmoans also which are 2 of the closest related people.
